Home education is legal in the UK

Image
Sometimes  I get to hear from some ignorant people who think home education is illegal! Subhanallah we can be so ignorant :-( Most of the people think, schooling is compulsory. Actually since the birth of a baby, some well-wishers would recommend putting the baby's name for the nursery! Rushing to send the kids to nursery or any other education institute is seen as a norm :-( I try to ignore all the 'recommendations' and try to avoid even answering as I believe , Allah subhana wa ta'ala knows our intention. I don't need to justify to anyone why we have chosen to home educate our precious children.  Alhamdulillah the more I read about home education or home schooling , I believe we are doing the best for our children alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah in the UK, home education is legal :-) Unfortunately many people in the UK do not realise that British home education (known as 'homeschooling' in the USA) is legal, and becoming more popular all the time alhamdu...

Activities at home

Okay now a bit of description.. Kids are mum and dad here, got their babies ( Peppa, Iggle Piggle, Hannah, Upsy Daisy and Hello Kitty) ready to go to Westfield!  Ifti tried to get into the baby chair to pretend that he is the baby Eesa and got stuck. Just to make it a bit more fun, I told him, you got yourself in it so you better get yourself out of the baby chair. Poor boy got really scared thinking the rest of his life he will be stuck in that chair :-( what an evil mum I am ;-) Their first musical chair game :-)   Aalia trying to write with her toes :-) she is always upto something different! My one of a kind daughter mashAllah! Ifti is obsessed with McQueen! Whenever he gets a chance, he will take a photo of his beloved friend! Apparently, McQueen is a good Muslim, he prays and says Allahu Akbar :-)

Summer 2012

Image
This Summer I took Ifti to the nursery and Aalia & Eesa to the Children Centre. Most of the times after the sessions, we went to the park. I think we really enjoyed the summer of this year, alhamdulillah.

Trip to the seaside

Image
Alhamdulillah we have been to Hastings. Kids really enjoyed their time. Aalia is having a bit of 'me' time. She does do it quite frequently. I think she is a bit of a deep thinker :-) and Ifti just like most of the boys loves his interesting actions !

Playing .....

Image
Most of the time Ifti, Aalia and Eesa are busy playing. Sometimes just watching them playing is really amazing mashAllah. They learn so much through playing. Once Ifti and Aaila was getting married ;-) didn't really want to spoil their fun so just kept quite and afterwards explained to them that brother and sister can't get married to each other :-) Anyway, they got dressed properly and sat together, after a while hugged and kissed each other. I asked them how are they feeling and Aalia told me that she is really very very happy :-D I took some photos of this great day! Here is one of them:-) Ifti loves being quite a caring dad to Iggle Piggle :-) He has been his favourite since his 2nd birthday. It is a precious gift from one of his beloved uncles. He loves cuddling Iggle Piggle during bedtime. Helping me and Yobo with household chores is also a great fun for them. I hope they will keep helping us when they are teenagers InshAllah.    They even try to pus...

Reading, reading & reading :-)

Image
Alhamdulillah I have been busy reading with my children. By the time they go to sleep I am totally exhausted and don’t really feel like updating my blog. But I created this blog to keep a journal of our home education experience. Insha-Allah I hope to write at least   once every week. Alhamdulillah I have been reading to them from the very beginning when they were only couple of months old. They love books, even baby Y brings a book to me during bedtime Alhamdulillah. If they see their parents are reading most of time, they are bound to love reading too. At the end of the day, kids love copying their parents.   So our role as parents is very crucial. Its huge responsibility and we need to do our best to be the good role-models inshaAllah. I want them to be good readers inshAllah. When they grow up, I hope and make dua that they become good thinkers and writers InshAllah! This week we have busy reading some Oxford Reading Tree books which I bought from the Noor-ul-Isl...

Love of nursery rhymes ....

Image
My three kids love nursery rhymes. Almost everyday Im and Ay love singing rhymes and Yu is more than happy to be the lucky audience!  I have been doing rhymes since they were very young and I can see the improvement mashallah. Rhymes make communication easier for babies. It's a great way of spending some quality time with them. They have learnt quite a lot of new words through rhymes alhamdulillah. Imi has started nursery in September 2011 and has been learning more rhymes with activities. The nursery has given us a rhymes CD and on a weekly basis provide us with a homework to practise whatever rhymes they are doing at the nursery. It's a good way of getting parents involved in childrens' education. I am a big fan of home education but yobo is not very keen of home education. So we have decided that Insha-Allah our kids will go to school but we will do our bit of teaching whenever we can . I have done my istikhara to ask Allah to guide to the right path and m...

Everything is from Allah subhana ta'ala!

Image
Bismillah... In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful Sometimes I think how blessed I am , alhamdulillah. Allah subhana ta'ala has given me so much! Am I really grateful enough to Him? Through my action, do I really show Him my gratitude towards Him? I know that through showing Him our gratitude, He will give us more. Our beloved prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihe wa sallam taught us to make a special dua after every prayer saying, " O Allah, help me in remembering You, worship You and being grateful to You!".Insha-Allah I hope I can do my best to thank Him . Insha-Allah I hope to show my gratitude to my Rabb by raising my children as best of Muslims! Being a parent is not an easy job. Sometimes it does get quite challenging  :-( but I try to keep reminding me that Insha-Allah I am a mother with a big purpose. I hope I will get reward from Allah subhana ta'ala for every moment of struggle I go through to raise our beautiful children, INSHA-ALLAH! Rabbana taqabbal m...
